There were a lot of places in Greek that were very powerful but the one that was the most powerful was Sparta and Athens. Sparta mostly belived in war and Athens mostly belived in sports and schooling. When the peolponnesian War just began and all the city-states were doing good but then something happened a sickness came right over Athens and it killed a lot of people. So because of the sickness they lost and then sparta controled Greece. So Sparta was all happy and then one of there loyalst Macedonia came to Spatra and stabed them in the back. Now to get it all striaghten out Macedonia is on top and they had one of the best king that any King dom has ever had he was Alexander the Great. When he was in control he would just take over city-state by city-Satae and in time come he had about all the the kingdoms in his hands. Then when Alexander was going on his last mission he died and then the Empire Fell apart. That is what Alexander did for Greece.

The people in Sparta was a war based city and always focused on making a better army. Athens was a sports based city they always focused on winning the Olympics and getting better at sports. Only the men could be citizens and rule the city in Athens. In Sparta the women were allowed a lot more rights then the women in Athens. In 600 b c the slaves revolted and then they were free. The women and girls were not allowed to compete in anything and that was mostly because the women had to take care of the children. The men originally thought that Sports were more important than school. The children still had to go learn reading and writing then they went to the gymnasium. Athenian boys worked on the farm during the day and helped their fathers with any other work they needed help with. They first started with Oligarchy and that was a group of wealthy men who ruled the polis. Then to make the city better they came up a government called a democracy and the democracy was a government where all the citizens participated in votes and other events. The cities involving Sparta and Macedonia where getting very mad at the power and the stuff that they owned in Athens. So then they became angry and started the Peloponnesian war. Sparta ended up winning the Peloponnesian war. Then Macedonia and Alexander the great took over Sparta well they then they continued there journey through Egypt and then in Egypt he stopped in a spot in Egypt because Alexander got very sick. Where he stopped they made it in to a city for Alexander and it was called Alexandria. That city was a multi-city culture it had Jews, Egyptians, and Greeks. They also created the creek Alphabet which was much like are’s but they were missing a few different letters that we had. There letters also looked slightly difrent then ours.
They had meny whepens at there disposal. One whepen was the spear. They hade two kins of spears. one has a whide flat point and the other has a toob shape and slowly comes to a point. The spears where used for stabing. Another thing they had was a worier caled a Hoplites whitch got there name from the large hevey sheld they carry caled a hoplon. The hoplites sheld coverd them and there nabor. They charged the enemy in tight groups to form a large wall. They even get to choos the desine on there shelds.
